Storyline

Sreenu (Jai Krishna Ghattamaneni) lands in Tirupati and soon comes across the notorious gangster Peddi Reddy (Kick Shyam). During a visit to a temple, he falls in love at first sight with Peddi Reddy’s daughter, Manga (Rasha Thadani). While Manga gradually becomes friends with Sreenu, she doesn’t share his romantic feelings. As the narrative unfolds, Sreenu’s mysterious past and his connection with Venkatappayya Naidu (Mohan Babu) come to light. Whether Sreenu wins Manga’s love and how his past changes everything forms the core of the story.

Positives

Jai Krishna Ghattamaneni delivers a confident and impressive debut performance.
Rasha Thadani shines in her Telugu debut, especially in emotional scenes, while her Telugu dialogue delivery deserves appreciation.
The chemistry between the lead pair works well and keeps the film engaging.

At the same time, the Department of Damage Control (DDC) comes under attack by an invisible telepath searching for a mysterious entity known as V-MAX. As Spider-Man investigates the growing threat, he crosses paths with familiar allies, dangerous new enemies, and unexpected challenges. How Peter uncovers the truth behind V-MAX and confronts the mysterious villain forms the rest of the story.

Positives

The film shines brightest whenever Spider-Man swings into action. The action sequences are grand, stylish, and consistently entertaining, making them the biggest highlight of the movie. Spider-Man’s intense battles with Hulk and The Hand are visually impressive and packed with adrenaline.

Tom Holland once again proves why he’s the perfect Spider-Man, effortlessly balancing humor, emotion, and heroism. His chemistry with Zendaya adds warmth whenever the story slows down, while Jon Bernthal and Mark Ruffalo make their presence felt despite limited screen time. The confrontations between Spider-Man and Jean Grey also create moments of intrigue.

Negatives

The biggest issue lies in the screenplay, which relies on a fairly simple and predictable narrative. While the action keeps the film engaging, the story rarely surprises and lacks emotional depth.

The revenge-driven conflict never develops into a powerful emotional arc, making the central plot less impactful than expected. Sadie Sink’s Jean Grey feels underwritten, limiting the character’s overall effectiveness.

Several subplots are left incomplete or underexplored, including the Department of Damage Control’s investigation, Hulk’s role, and the inclusion of Punisher and the new Black Widow, who feel more like setup characters than meaningful contributors to the story. Jacob Batalon’s Ned also receives limited scope, reducing the emotional impact of his character.

Technicalities

Director Destin Daniel Cretton delivers a visually entertaining superhero film but falls short in crafting a compelling screenplay. Brett Pawlak’s cinematography captures the action with style, while the visual effects are polished and impressive throughout.

The action choreography by Peng Zhang and the Jackie Chan Stunt Team deserves special appreciation for delivering several exciting set pieces. Michael Giacchino’s background score supports the film well, although it doesn’t stand out as one of his most memorable works.
