A fresh political controversy has erupted in Telangana after Minister Ponnam Prabhakar launched a sharp attack on Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan, responding to the latter’s recent remarks about expanding the party’s presence in the state.
Speaking at a press conference, Ponnam Prabhakar ridiculed Pawan Kalyan’s political ambitions in Telangana, questioning how he could aspire to play a bigger role in the state when, according to him, Jana Sena struggled to establish itself independently in Andhra Pradesh. Referring to Pawan’s comments that he had no intention of becoming Chief Minister in Telangana, Ponnam sarcastically remarked that the actor-politician was unable to make a significant impact in Andhra Pradesh on his own and therefore had little ground to speak about Telangana politics.
The minister also took a swipe at Pawan Kalyan’s film background, calling him a “paid artist” and joking that if he had enough money, he would cast the Jana Sena leader in a movie himself. The remarks quickly gained traction on social media, drawing reactions from both supporters and critics.
Ponnam further questioned Jana Sena’s electoral track record, pointing out the party’s performance in previous elections and claiming that its recent success in Andhra Pradesh was largely due to its alliance with the TDP and BJP. He argued that Pawan Kalyan should focus on delivering results in Andhra Pradesh before attempting to expand his political influence elsewhere.
Adding another layer to the controversy, the minister suggested that external political forces might be influencing Pawan Kalyan’s statements. He speculated that either the BJP or BRS could be guiding the Jana Sena chief’s political narrative, though he did not provide any evidence to support the claim.
Ponnam also revived one of Pawan Kalyan’s own popular political slogans, turning it back on him during the press meet. Questioning the Jana Sena chief’s criticism of Telangana affairs, the minister challenged him over issues related to government funding and state administration.
The exchange has intensified tensions between political leaders in both Telugu states and sparked widespread debate across social media platforms. With supporters of both sides defending their leaders, the verbal clash has become one of the most talked-about political developments in recent days.
