This Diwali, it’s time to go Higher, Further, Faster, Together as the much-awaited Marvel Studios’ THE MARVELS releases on 10th November, promising intense action, adventure and FULL-ON Family Entertainment this festive season! With anticipation rising high for one of the biggest Diwali films this year, superstar SAMANTHA added to the fanfare with the launch of a special exclusive video for Indian fans at a grand event held in Hyderabad and announced that the advance bookings will open across the country from tomorrow, 4th November across all formats!

After her memorable association with Marvel Studios for 2019’s blockbuster hit Captain Marvel, Samantha, who has always been a true-blue super hero fan returned to welcome audiences in her inimitable style to join her excitement for the film. As Samantha unveiled the special video for ‘The Marvels’ in Hyderabad, the actress also channelled her inner superhero and struck a power-pose with special fans and cosplayers who brought their A-game!

Sharing her excitement about The Marvels and her love for Captain Marvel, Samantha said, “Captain Marvel has always been one of my most favourite superheroes and Avenger, I am thrilled to associate with Marvel India once again for this epic Diwali entertainer that has not just one, but three powerful superheroes this time fighting the ultimate battle of Good vs Evil! After the incredibly successful Tiger 3 teaser, trailer and the first song Leke Prabhu Ka Naam, YRF surprised audiences today with a 50-second video asset Tiger Is Back! It presents Salman Khan aka Tiger as a one-man army protecting India against a villain that wants to destroy it at any cost!

Renowned Telugu producer ‘Sravanthi’ Ravikishore is debuting in Tamil cinema with Kida which is dubbed in Telugu as ‘Deepavali’ and the film is releasing in both languages on the 11th of November. On this occasion, the director of the film, RA Venkat addressed the media and revealed promotional details about the rural drama which has Poo Ramu, Kali Venkat, and others in the lead roles. Here’s a transcription of his media interview. 

Tell us about yourself?

 I’m from Tamil Nadu. I come from a village named Ramanathapuram, Madurai. I lost my father when I was a child and was brought up by my grandfather, grandma, and my mother.

How did films happen?

I had an interest in filmmaking and came to Chennai in 2023 to pursue the same. I started off as an office boy at the office of a director named Ezhil and that’s how it started. Then I worked as assistant director and associate director in association with other directors. I developed knowledge of crafts and techniques in filmmaking. 

How did Deepavali happen?

Regardless of the scale and grandeur of the film, the thing that strikes a chord with the audience is the emotional core. In the case of Deepavali, the core revolves around a grandfather, his grandson, and a goat. It comes with intense emotions. 

How did ‘Sravanthi’ Ravikishore Garu came on board for this film?

After writing Deepavali, I narrated it to producer Chukkapalli Venu sir whom I knew and he referred me to Ravikishore sir. I then sent a voice recording of the script and he readily signed the project. I was pleasantly shocked after learning that a top producer like him signed my film. I couldn’t believe it for a while as I wasn’t expecting a top producer who works with Star Heroes has give me a chance. I am delighted that Ravikishore sir is debuting in Tamil with my film. 

How was it to direct a film for the first time? 

I knew the craft well as I had 10 years of experience in the field. The producer gave me another responsibility apart from direction. He asked me to fix the remuneration of the actors and crew on my own. And when I told him the amount, he used to transfer the money without any questions. He used to supervise the project and give us all the necessary support. I understood how he became a top producer. A director can work confidently under a producer like him. 

What about critical appreciation for Kida – Deepavali?

‘Deepavali’ was sent for international film screenings and it received standing ovation at the International Film Festival of India, Goa and the 20th Chennai International Film Festival where it won Best Film and Best Actor awards. A woman watched my film at this screening and she cried and told me it reminded her of her family.

 How did your family respond to the film?

 My mother started crying after watching the film as she felt it reminded her of her husband, my father. Many people got emotional after watching it and this is a great experience for me as a director. 

Any real life inspirations in the story? 

This isn’t my real life story. But the characters of grandfather and grandma are inspired from my own grandpa and grandma. Poo Ramu garu died before the film’s release but he appreciated me after the dubbing session. My grandma has a character based on her but sadly for me, she too died before the release. This film has a lot of emotional connect for me.

It’s been 20 years in the film industry, how do you feel now? 

This is an emotional journey that cant be explained in words. I would like to thank everyone who supported me in the process. My family holds a special place in my heart and this is one for them.

What about the next film?

 I prepared another emotional subject and pitched it to Sravanthi Ravikishore sir. He asked me to deliver the full script. We are planning to do it with a star hero. More details will be out once full script is locked.

Hero Karthi is ready to entertain the audience with his 25th film ‘Japan’. Directed by Raju Murugan of Joker fame, this  thriller is produced by SR Prakash Babu and SR Prabhu under Dream Warrior Pictures banner. Anu Emmanuel is playing the heroine. The already released teaser, trailer and songs of the film have received tremendous response. Annapurna Studios is releasing this movie in Telugu states. Japan’s ‘Diwali’ will be released in grand theaters. On this occasion, hero Karthi shared the features of the film in a press conference.

True Story of Japan? The reason for the title of Japan?

‘Japan’ is not a true story. But real events are the inspiration. The director of this film, Raju Murugan, became the director from the report. His experiences are also included in this. He got the National Award for the movie Joker. Another new aspect was discovered in Japan. The movie gives a very new experience. While reading the script of this movie, it seemed like an out-of-the-box movie. Every scene in this is very new and original. But if you watch the movie, you will understand why the name is called Japan.

Director Raju Murugan’s films are intense, Doesn’t this look different?

There is satire in Japan too. A good dark comedy is ripe. He wrote the dialogues for the Tamil version of Oopiri. I was shocked to see his humor. In this, the humor will surprise the audience. After many days, I did a different role in this which was a humor satire along with Mass.

A new makeover for Japan,The dialogues are also very peculiar, aren’t they?

Raj Muragan wrote a story for me. I really liked one character in it. I asked if we could tell a story with that character. That is how ‘Japan’ came. I already knew that this role would be very unique. This character needs a new Karthi. I changed myself accordingly. When the dubbing was said.. Karthi was heard and the director asked him to go to Japan. Some people’s personality has nothing to do with their voice. The man is firm but the voice is a bit thin and thin. We tried that for the character of Japan. It turned out great. A Japanese character based film. I enjoyed doing this role a lot.

Is Japan a universal subject?

Japan reflects today’s society with all the fun elements. This story connects to everyone. We have worked with very talented technicians to present to a universal audience. S Ravivarman has given an excellent visual treatment. Also, Jeevi Prakash took it to another level with the music. Although the visuals are new, Jeevee has also made music very new.

How is your choice of movies?

I love the magic in the movie. The audience who come to the theater with any problems forget everything for a couple of hours and enjoy traveling to another world. That is the magic of cinema. First, it should be learned properly. It was a big learning experience for me. I treat every film, story, and character that I have done till now as if it were different. I try to do something different every time. It works out for me.

How does it feel doing back-to-back with Annapurna Studios?

It is a great pleasure to do a film with Annapurna Studios. It got stronger with the arrival of Annapurna Studios.

Khaithi 2 when? What is the role in Rolex?

I am also waiting for that (laughs). Discussions are going on. There are many expectations among the audience about Rolex. You have to ask your elder brother (Surya), director Lokesh Kanakaraj about this (laughing).

Are you afraid of sequels? How do you see sequels?

Having a strong character and back story can carry it forward. It happened to the prisoner and the Sardar, so they are being taken forward.

Will there be a sequel in Japan?

Japan is a very strong and interesting character.. I told the director before the climax that there should be a sequel or a prequel to it. Japan has to redo its role.

New films?

I am doing a film with the director of Sudukavvam. Also, I am doing a film with 96 director Prem Kumar. These two are nothing special. Also, there are Khaithi 2 and Sardar 2.

“Shantala,” a period film, is proudly presented by KS Rama Rao, with Dr. Irrinki Suresh from Indo-American Arts serving as the producer, and directed by the talented Trivikram Seshu. The movie stars Ashlesha Thakur, renowned for her role in Amazon’s “Family Man,” in the lead role, alongside Nihal Kodhaty as the hero.

The heartwarming melody ‘Cheli Mohame’ song from Shantala was unveiled by none other than the iconic hero, Nagarjuna. After watching the song, Nagarjuna garu extended his best wishes to the Shantala team.

At the event, the film unit members expressed their joy and heartfelt gratitude to the KING Nagarjuna garu for his unwavering support. They also highlighted the positive reception of the first song, ‘Rise of Shantala,’ released by the Master director Tivikram garu, and expressed their gratitude to everyone for their support.

Shantala is a film inspired by a true story that unfolded in Halibedu and Belur, and it is scheduled for release on November 17th. Vishal Chandrasekhar, known for his sensational music in the super hit film ‘Seetharamam,’ has composed the music for ‘Shantala.’ The heart-touching harmony ‘Cheli Mohame’ is performed by S.P.B. Charan, with lyrics penned by Krishna Kanth, and it has been released through Aditya Music.”
