Christopher Nolan has once again proven his box office dominance as The Odyssey opened to a phenomenal response worldwide. The epic drama collected an impressive $264.1 million globally during its opening weekend, making it one of the biggest theatrical launches of the year.
In North America, the film earned a massive $124.5 million, marking Nolan’s biggest opening since The Dark Knight Rises, which debuted with $160 million in 2012. It also stands as the third-biggest opening weekend of 2026, trailing only Toy Story 5 ($159 million) and The Super Mario Galaxy Movie ($131 million).
Despite carrying an R rating, which limits younger audiences from watching the film without an accompanying adult, The Odyssey attracted huge crowds across the United States and Canada, underlining Nolan’s unmatched theatrical appeal.
The film also performed exceptionally well in international markets, collecting $139.6 million across 73 overseas territories. This pushed its worldwide opening weekend total to an outstanding $264.1 million, giving the film a strong foundation for a successful theatrical run.
In India, The Odyssey emerged as a major success, grossing approximately ₹74 crore during its opening weekend. The film has recorded one of Christopher Nolan’s strongest openings in the country, reflecting the director’s immense popularity among Indian audiences and the growing demand for premium theatrical experiences.
