Kiran Abbavaram’s latest romantic drama Chennai Love Story has turned out to be a surprise blockbuster at the box office. The film has collected nearly Rs 24 crore gross worldwide in its opening weekend, marking the biggest three-day opening of Kiran Abbavaram’s career.
Directed by Ravi Namburi, the film stars Kiran Abbavaram and Sri Gouri Priya in the lead roles. The emotional love story, packed with a shocking interval twist, has struck a chord with audiences, especially younger moviegoers.
The film witnessed exceptional growth on Sunday, recording its highest single-day collections in the Telugu states. In just three days, Chennai Love Story has grossed around Rs 19 crore domestically, while overseas markets have contributed nearly Rs 5 crore, taking the worldwide total close to Rs 24 crore.
The film is also performing well in North America, where it has already crossed $400,000 in gross collections, reflecting strong support from overseas Telugu audiences.
Produced by SKN and Sai Rajesh, the film features music composed by Mani Sharma. Kiran Abbavaram’s restrained performance and Sri Gouri Priya’s impressive screen presence have been widely appreciated, adding to the film’s positive reception.
While some viewers felt the second half could have been stronger, the overwhelmingly positive word of mouth, particularly among youth audiences, has helped the film maintain excellent momentum at the box office.
With no major Telugu releases scheduled over the next two weeks, Chennai Love Story is expected to enjoy a steady run in theatres and could continue adding significant numbers in the coming days.
