Storyline
The story is set in the Chittoor region , where a notorious criminal gang attacks police vehicles and steals a cache of weapons. Devadas (Lokesh Kanagaraj) is one of the gang members involved in the operation. Things take a shocking turn when the gang murders the police officer investigating the case, forcing the department to launch a massive manhunt.
Senior officer Bhogaraju takes charge of the investigation to track down the gang. As the story progresses, Devadas’ past, his emotional journey, and the reasons behind his actions slowly come to light. The narrative also introduces Chandra (Wamiqa Gabbi) and Parvathi (Sanjana Krishnamoorthy), whose presence significantly impacts Devadas’ life. What is Devadas really fighting for, and can the police finally bring him down? The answers unfold through an engaging action-packed narrative.
Positives
The biggest strength of DC is Arun Matheswaran’s gripping screenplay, which keeps the narrative engaging throughout. The director successfully balances action with emotional moments, making the film more than just a routine commercial entertainer.
Lokesh Kanagaraj makes a confident acting debut and fits naturally into the rugged role of Devadas. His screen presence and performance exceed expectations, making a strong first impression.
Wamiqa Gabbi delivers a solid performance in a meaningful role, especially during the emotional portions in the second half. Sanjana Krishnamoorthy, despite limited screen time, leaves a positive impact with her charming presence.
Guru Somasundaram stands out as the antagonist, and his face-offs with Lokesh provide several engaging moments.
Anirudh Ravichander is one of the film’s biggest assets. His songs are impressive, but it is the background score that elevates several key sequences, particularly the interval, climax, and emotional moments, giving the film tremendous energy.

The film’s core story isn’t particularly fresh and follows a familiar template. Some of the police investigation scenes resemble other crime dramas, reducing the novelty factor.
The rivalry between the hero and the villain could have been developed more effectively. The antagonist’s motivation and obsession with Devadas feel underexplained, making the conflict less impactful than it could have been.

Sun Pictures has mounted the film on a grand scale with impressive production values. Mukesh G’s cinematography captures the rustic backdrop beautifully while maintaining a realistic tone. G.K. Prasanna’s editing keeps the pacing tight, avoiding unnecessary lag.
Arun Matheswaran succeeds in presenting a commercial action drama with strong emotional depth. Though the storyline isn’t groundbreaking, his execution and screenplay make the film consistently engaging.
