Kiran Abbavaram and Sri Gouri Priya’s Chennai Love Story has made an impressive start at the box office, collecting ₹7.2 crore worldwide gross on its opening day. The romantic drama registered one of the strongest openings in Kiran Abbavaram’s career, driven by a solid response to premiere shows and encouraging first-day collections.
The film began its theatrical journey with special premiere shows across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana on Thursday night. These paid previews contributed significantly to the opening numbers, creating strong buzz ahead of its official release.
On Friday, the film added nearly ₹5 crore gross from its first full day in cinemas. Combined with the premiere collections, Chennai Love Story ended Day 1 with an impressive ₹7.2 crore worldwide gross, giving the makers a reason to celebrate.
The movie also received a strong response on BookMyShow, where nearly 1.5 lakh tickets were sold across the premiere shows and the first day, reflecting high audience interest, especially among young moviegoers.
In the overseas market, the romantic entertainer grossed around ₹2.2 crore, including nearly $150,000 from North America, further boosting its worldwide total.
Directed by Ravi Namburii and produced by Sai Rajesh and SKN, the film features music composed by Mani Sharma. While critics appreciated the emotional storytelling and engaging first half, opinions on the second half were mixed. Despite that, audience response has remained positive, particularly among the youth.
